Since 2013 the Russian Federation has been a member of the Tourism Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. The Committee is one of the tourism industry’s leading platforms. The OECD member states generate just under 60% of the world’s tourism turnover.
The OECD Tourism Committee Membership strengthens the positioning of Russia in the global tourism market and gives the opportunity to make the national tourism industry modern and competitive.
Effective interaction within the Committee makes it possible to accelerate the transformation of Russian tourism into a highly profitable and innovative economic sector, particularly in non-resource exports.
The Federal Agency for Tourism takes an active part in the OECD Tourism Committee meetings. The 105th meeting of the Committee was held online on April 1, 2020. The topics discussed included the coronavirus pandemic impact on the tourism industry and the Committee's work program and budget for 2021-2022.
